A morning at the orchestra

We bring symphonic music closer to groups in vulnerable situations, making access to culture real through participatory experiences.

Established and replicable project

The project

A morning at the orchestra offers a participatory musical experience in the morning: meeting and talking with the musicians, attending a live rehearsal and joining a workshop led by music therapists.

The initiative began in 2012, driven by the social department of L'Auditori de Barcelona, and has since spread to other areas.

The barriers it breaks down

Barriers to accessing culture

We bring music to people who cannot usually get to symphonic concerts or travel to the venues.

Cognitive and physical barriers

We design clearer, more flexible and more accessible activities that take diversity into account.

Barriers to participation

We combine listening to the rehearsal with a music workshop, for a more participatory experience.

Model

A model combining access to culture, active participation, music therapy and community links in well-known cultural venues.
